About Us
This is a Comfortable Place for Learning.
We’re Happy You’re Here!
Learning to read should be exciting and challenging, not frustrating. The Reading Safe was created to give new readers the tools, confidence, and support they need to crack the reading code.

Our Founder
Meet Jayme Pelerine
(You Can Call Her Ms. Jayme!)
For over 30 years, Ms. Jayme has been a dedicated reading teacher, helping children build the skills they need to become lifelong readers. An expert educator with a bachelor’s degree, two master’s degrees, and a reading license, she has spent decades designing literacy programs, teaching in classrooms, and empowering all students to succeed.
Plus, her passion for reading isn’t just professional, it’s personal. As a mom of twin boys (now avid readers!), she’s seen firsthand how the right tools can unlock a child’s potential. That’s why she created The Reading Safe: a structured, research-backed program that makes learning to read engaging, approachable, and fun—right from the start.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why Did Ms. Jayme Create The Reading Safe?
Ms. Jayme has seen how many students struggle with reading (especially in the wake of COVID-related learning disruptions). She saw families searching for ways to help their children, but the options available—especially those found online—were often disjointed, incomplete, or focused on guessing rather than true literacy development. She knew new readers needed something better. And that’s why The Reading Safe was born!
How Does Learning to Read Positively Impact a Child Beyond Education?
Reading isn’t just an academic skill—it shapes a child’s confidence, emotional well-being, and ability to connect with the world around them. When children can read fluently, they thrive socially, engaging more easily in conversations, forming stronger relationships, and feeling a sense of belonging among their peers. Families also feel the positive impact. As a child’s reading skills grow, so does their independence, enthusiasm, self-esteem, and sense of accomplishment. Parents and caregivers experience the joy of watching their child gain confidence, explore new ideas, and embrace learning with excitement.
How is The Reading Safe Different From Other Reading Programs?
Many reading tools prioritize memorization over meaning, teaching children to recognize words without truly understanding how they work. In many cases, these tools lack research-based support. The Reading Safe is backed by years of expert research and focus on phonics, word families, comprehension and impactful teaching strategies like receiving feedback and reteaching techniques. Every lesson builds upon the previous one, ensuring that children develop real reading skills and not just memorization tricks.
Does The Reading Safe Require a Parent or Teacher to Guide the Lessons?
Not necessarily! The Reading Safe is self-guided and easy to use. It’s perfect for independent learners, busy families, and homeschoolers. Each kit includes easy to use instructional videos, interactive activities, and engaging games, so children can learn at their own pace while receiving the structured support they need.
Are There Versions of The Reading Safe in Languages Other than English?
At this time there is instruction in both English and Spanish. The Spanish instruction is bilingual and customized for emergent native Spanish speakers (MLs, ELLs)
